Aloha and Welcome to my small speck of cyberspace! Dec 8, 2010 is the birth date of my blog. Never had one before, but my son encouraged me to have one, and it seemed like a good way to at least keep a log of my RC airplane building and flying. With the initial design kicked off by my son, I'll carry on from here and have fun with it. Now that I have it, I will use it to also keep track of my oil painting efforts, and any other ideas, hobbies, travels, or whatever else that come up. LIFE IS GOOD!

Update on 02/25/2011. It's been a few months since I began this blog, and I am enjoying creating and having it! I like documenting the things I have done in my hobbies, and sharing with my small family. I think Jer and Tad actually view it fairly regularly, as a means to see what I've been up to lately. At worst, it serves as a reference for my own use.

Update on 12/22/2011. This blog stuff is habit forming. My blog is a year old now, and I make an entry about every other day or so as that seems to be the frequency of doing something in one of my hobbies. Like my hobbies, this blog is a lot of fun, and it has become in itself another hobby that I enjoy.

Years are flying by...update on 01/11/2013. Still enjoying maintaining this blog even though hardly anyone sees it. I don't advertise it anywhere or to anyone, and it is mainly just a way for me to keep my own notes and thoughts on my flying, painting, and cars. If a stranger happens upon it, I think it is by pressing NEXT at the top of the current blog they are visiting, lol. It's a great device for me.

August 2014: still here! Took up flying RC helicopters one year ago and got hooked. Had flown micro Helis up to then, but got serious with 450 size for a couple months, then bought the Goblin 500 and Gaui X5 . Also got my Boxster in April 2013. Most importantly, Ariel was born 12/02/12 followed by Skylar 07/20/13, and they are little beacons of joy in our lives. Life is indeed good!!!

Flight log: 08/12-15/2014

Ok, forgot to log my daily flights and now I forget what happened.  San, Ron, al, and I went to Spirit Mountain on Monday, which is about all I remember for sure.   Flew on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with Ron.  Al came everyday except Thursday.   I think he is as hooked as me on flying combat with the Battlewings that Ron brought, and is gifting to us  along with all the battery packs (27) and extra props and o ring keepers.

We flew Battlewings everyday with all 3 in combat, save Thursday when Ron and I pretty much just practiced flying low and slow.  Alex must be a good pilot because he seems to be involved in most hits.   He seems to be able to come from behind and underneath to get most of his kills.   I am learning to not stay ahead of him and smooth for long before just getting out of the way and trying to get behind him.  Today I got at least one good kill on him, but we both were low and flopped flat to the ground about 15 feet apart, lol.  Crazy fun planes and event.

I know I got in 3 packs on the x5 today, most days about the same 3 or 4 packs.  Took the star several times to be comfortable using it tomorrow in the electric funfly event.  Should be good enough to play.

Alex has flown  the 450 dfc everyday, preferring it over the 450 fbl.  He is showing off and trying to fly backwards often!   Gives me the yikes.  Also has flown the star, and of course the Battlewings with great zeal and delight.   I consider it a "live" video game and thus so attractive to Alex.   Al is another good Young family RC pilot!

Ron has flown the 7hv for two packs just about everyday, the goblin 500 about the same, and the logo 480 a little less.   The 7hv seems to be dialed in pretty well, with only a slight tail wag at times.   The logo is being more of a challenge with its more visible and frequent wag.  Fortunately both can still be flown and enjoyed as he works out the issues.  Ron is flying his Helis well...very focused on smoothness and deliberate control in all attitudes.   Doing well, and his nose in funnels are looking good!  He has also been taking out the Addiction  XL almost everyday.   I have flown it a couple full flights and really like it....might have to get one or the mid size one.
